Sevil Yasar, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Yasar received her medical degree from the Semmelweis Medical University, School of Medical Sciences, (Budapest, Hungary) and later her Ph.D. in pharmacology at the Semmelweis Medical University, School of Pharmacological Sciences (Budapest, Hungary) in 2006.

She obtained her training in internal medicine and her fellowship training in geriatric medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She joined the faculty of the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology in 2001 and is currently an Associate Professor of the Departments of Medicine and Neurology.

Dr. Yasar is a clinician-scientist, and her clinical work includes evaluating and treating patients at the Johns Hopkins Cerebrospinal Fluid Disorder (CSF) Center since 2010 and Johns Hopkins Memory Center since 2009.

Her clinical work at the CSF center is complemented by her research comorbidities in patients with NPH. While her research focus in area of dementia focuses on cardiovascular risk factros and pharmacoepidemiology of late-life memory disorders using data from numerous observational and intervention studies examining the relationship between antihypertensive and lipid lowering medications.

She is an active member of the Hydrocephalus Society (HS) and is Treasury/Secretary of HS since 2023.
