We are pleased to present this month’s interesting paper, “Association between cerebrospinal fluid volume and frailty in community-dwelling older adults: a cross-sectional study” authored by:
Kazuhiro Yoshiura, Yosuke Hidaka, Takashi Suehiro, Naoto Kajitani, Asuka Koyama, Yusuke Miyagawa, Naoko Tsunoda, Tomohisa Ishikawa, Ryuji Fukuhara, Mamoru Hashimoto, Manabu Ikeda, Megumi Shimodozono, Kazunari Ishii, Minoru Takebayashi

The study examined whether frailty relates to volumes of the cerebrospinal fluid spaces. In 1,395 older adults, larger ventricular and Sylvian fissure volumes and smaller high‑convexity subarachnoid space volumes were associated with frailty, especially slow gait. The study concludes that impaired cerebrospinal fluid dynamics may contribute to frailty.
